Background

We purchased our home in San Diego in 1993 and did an extensive internal remodel in 1996.  Incremental improvements have been made along the way like re-painting and remedial repairs.  But, over time, all things will fail.  We installed very high-quality carpet during our remodel, but even high-quality will degrade over time.  Like it or not, we needed to confront some of these issues.  Like most efforts that are expensive and disruptive, we agonized over it for an extended period of time.  In this case, it was literally years.  But, finally, we chose to act and performing enhancements during the "COVID down-time" seemed to be the best use of our time.  So, we made our decisions, placed our orders and waited.  And waited.  And waited.

Conclusions

Just like EVERY project, it takes longer, cost more, is more effort and more disruptive than expected.  Even if you are a pessimist like me.  Similar to other projects that we have done on Thor (our camper), vendor delivery times pace what can be accomplished and indeed on this project it was the driver of the timeline.
