The Trip

We had just completed our Alaska trip and the travel bug struck again. Our house-mate Jeff wanted to go to the Durango, Colorado area to ride the steam train and that was on our list as well. So, we made arrangements, packed and hit the road. We had a pretty aggressive agenda to visit a lost of places, but we were sure it would be fun. The plan was to start at Albuquerque, NM and get a rental car, then head north and do a loop through northern New Mexico and southern Colorado.

The photos below are what we saw.

Epilog

This was an awesome trip; perhaps the best road trip we have ever taken. While the weather did not treat us nicely when we were on the trains, the balance of the time it was fine. The fall colors were great and the whole area is a sight to behold. The American southwest is something that everybody should experience at least once in their lives. The return back to San Diego was uneventful, but the best plane flights are.
